Third-year in the running, Honey for the Heart organizes and creates a puppet parade that marches down Court Street in Athens, Ohio. Community members and students from Ohio University join to participate in the process of puppet making and to march them through the city.
Patty Mitchell and Robert Lockheed established Honey for the Heart, which was named after a woman from Chile who visited Athens and said that Athens was the honey for her heart. The organization plans on expanding every year with more puppets in the Halloween parade and other parades around the area. Lockheed said that the organization is in the pursuit of opening its own puppet museum in collaboration with Community Connections of Athens County, which provides help and assistance to people with disabilities.
